Tickitaly reviews: how it works, Florence ticket prices and whether it is legit

Tickitaly is an Italian travel agency that resells museum tickets for Florence, Rome, Venice and Milan online. It has a physical address in Empoli, a VAT number and a registration with the Florence Chamber of Commerce: it is not one of those portals that hide behind a contact form. The verdict in two sentences: it is a real intermediary, twenty years in business, with email support that reviewers say works; but at the time of checking it no longer sells Uffizi Gallery tickets and its refund policy is nil. It suits anyone who wants a single point of contact, in English, for museums in different cities; it does not suit anyone after the lowest price or the chance to change their mind.

Tickitaly’s Uffizi page carries an explicit notice: the company is not supplying tickets for the gallery. This is not a passing technical glitch, it is the consequence of a change of system. Since the Uffizi ticket office moved to CoopCulture, the allocations reserved for agencies have gone, and the trade associations have protested publicly about the lack of clear rules for the professional channel.

What that means in practice for a buyer: if you want the Uffizi you have two routes. The official channel, where the ticket costs €25 bought for the same day and €29 with a date booked in advance (the €4 difference being the booking fee), which is named and non-refundable, with a cap of ten tickets a day per account. Or the platforms that still hold reserved admissions, and charge for that service.

Anyone reading a guide that recommends Tickitaly for the Uffizi is reading out-of-date information. The same goes for sites that still list B-ticket or the Firenze Musei number as the gallery’s ticket office: they are not any more. Our deep dive is on the official Uffizi ticket office page.

What it still sells in Florence, and for how much

The Florentine catalogue is still wide, but the comparison always has to be with the museum’s price list, not with a competitor’s price.

The rates below are the ones read in Tickitaly’s calendar for the same weekday date at the time of checking.

That is exactly the weak point: the prices are not on the pages, they are inside the calendar that opens after you pick a date, and the service fee — which the terms admit is applied — is never separated from the ticket price. Reconstructed by subtraction, it runs between €6 and €7.50 a ticket at the smaller museums.

Two warnings about the catalogue. For Palazzo Vecchio Tickitaly does not sell plain admission but a guided tour, so comparing it with the city’s €19 is not like for like. For the Duomo the calendar, at the time of checking, opens on December 2025 and has no available dates at all: the Brunelleschi Pass is effectively not buyable through this channel.

How booking works

This is not an instant basket. You fill in a request with date, time and number of people, you pay the full amount and you receive a voucher already settled, to be shown or exchanged at the point indicated. The site states that the total shown is final and that nothing more is paid at the museum: true, but it is also why the fee stays invisible.

The voucher is not the entry ticket, and that is the confusion that generates the most complaints: turn up at the turnstile believing you hold an admission title and you lose your time slot. The offices work Mon–Fri until 17:30, so a request sent on Saturday is handled on Monday.

Tickitaly cancellation, refunds and support

Here the judgement is blunt. The reservation terms state that, once the form has been submitted, no refunds are possible. Date changes can be requested, but they are not guaranteed and carry administrative charges. The company also declines any responsibility for strikes or sudden closures of the state museums: if the museum shuts, the problem stays yours.

That policy is not unusual: the official channels of the Uffizi, the Accademia and the Opera del Duomo do not refund either. But it strips the intermediary of the one advantage that normally justifies it, given that the big platforms also sell products with free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

Support, by contrast, is a strength: an Italian phone number with the Empoli dialling code, a direct email address and stated office hours. In the reviews collected by the site, how quickly replies arrive is the theme that comes up most.

What the reviews say

The figure the site shows — 4.6/5 from 6,542 reviews — comes from its own internal system, not from a third-party platform: it is an interested party’s data, however plausible (the Accademia listing alone claims 4.7/5 from 766 customers). At the time of checking Tickitaly has no Trustpilot page: the address returns an error. It does have a TripAdvisor listing, registered in Milan, and the picture there is reversed: 2.6/5 from 8 reviews, no. 385 of 705. Eight ratings are not a statistic, but they are the only independent score that exists, and they point the opposite way to the in-house 4.6.

Then there are the travel forums, where the name has come up for years in heated terms: the mark-up against buying direct, confusion between voucher and ticket, rigidity over refunds. Pulling the other way, domain analysis services classify it as very probably safe and the brand has been cited by the British press. There is no sign of a scam: there is an expensive and inflexible intermediary.

• No verifiable independent reviews.

Verdict

Tickitaly is not a scam and it is not an official ticket office: it is a Tuscan travel agency acting as an intermediary, with all the limits of that trade. The problem is not legitimacy, it is value. Without the Uffizi in its catalogue it loses the product that brought it the most traffic, and on what is left it charges a fee it does not declare, in exchange for zero flexibility. Our score is 2.5 out of 5: half a point more than the anonymous portals thanks to its corporate transparency and real support, but not enough to prefer it to the official channel when slots exist, nor to a platform when you need cancellation, an app and languages.

The practical rule is the usual one: for the Accademia and David, the Medici Chapels, the Bargello and Palazzo Vecchio, try the museum’s own site first; if the time you need has sold out, then it is worth paying an intermediary — choosing one that tells you upfront what it costs and what happens if your plans change.
