Florence.net reviews: is it the official Uffizi site? Prices, tickets and refunds

The portal states that it is not the museum's official site, and on that it is honest. The problem is the price: the page advertises Uffizi tickets from €20, the checkout asks for €34 against the official €29, and refunds come back at 80% only with twenty days' notice.

Not the official site
The Florence skyline from above with Brunelleschi's dome and Giotto's bell tower in the centre

Florence.net is a tourist portal that has been selling tickets to Florence’s museums for almost thirty years, with multilingual content and a booking form for the Uffizi, the Accademia, the Duomo, the Vasari Corridor and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The verdict in two sentences: it states that it is not the museum’s official site, which sets it apart from many competitors, but at checkout it asks €34 for an Uffizi ticket that officially costs €29, while the page goes on advertising €20. It makes sense only if you find a time slot here that is unavailable anywhere else.

We are not affiliated with Florence.net or with the service that fulfils its orders: we receive no commission on its sales. We are partners of Tiqets and GetYourGuide, which we use as a yardstick, and we always name the official channel’s price.

The disclaimer is there, and it is the site’s main merit

The page devoted to the gallery contains a sentence many similar sites do not write: the portal calls itself a tribute to the museum and states that it is not the official site and has no direct connection with it. That is correct, and it deserves credit.

The context matters, though: the group the portal is tied to also controls domains such as uffizi.com and uffizi.org, which appear in search results carrying the museum’s name. Someone typing “uffizi” and clicking the first result does not always read the disclaimer. The official ticket office is tickets.uffizi.it, run by CoopCulture, with a call centre on 800 615 615: everything else is resale, as we explain on our page about the official Uffizi ticket office.

The advertised price and the checkout price do not match

This is what weighs most in this review, and it is not an opinion: it is a gap between figures on the same page.

StepFigure shown
Advertised on the pagetickets “from €20.00”
Structured data in the page code€20.00, with price validity expired years ago

Online booking fee+€5.00
Actual total€34.00
Official price for comparison€29.00 with a date booked in advance, €25.00 for the same day

The real surcharge is €5 above the official maximum, that is 17% more, and €9 against the same-day ticket. The “from €20” label corresponds to nothing you can buy: anyone comparing portals by advertised price alone finds out the difference after entering their card.

The official Uffizi price list no longer has a high and a low season: there is the same-day ticket at €25 and the one with a date booked in advance at €29, and the €4 difference is the booking fee. From 16:00 it drops to €16 and €20. No portal beats those figures: it can only add to them.

Who actually sells: the portal is not the seller

When you press the booking button, the basket does not stay on Florence.net. The request is passed to the Florence Tickets service, behind which sits New Globus Viaggi S.r.l., an agency with an Italian VAT number. In practice the portal is a white-label shop window that collects the traffic and hands the order to an agency.

Two concrete consequences. The contract you accept is not with the site you are browsing, and the terms that count are the partner’s. And support: the portal shows neither a phone number nor an email address, only the partner’s form. If something goes wrong the evening before your visit, there is nobody to call.

Cancellation and refunds: 80% and twenty days

The terms of the service that fulfils the orders are explicit and strict. A refund is possible only by writing an email at least twenty days before the entry date, and it returns 80% of the voucher value, net of bank charges. No-shows receive nothing. A date change is sold as an add-on service, around €4.50.

Twenty days’ notice, on a ticket often bought a fortnight before departure, means that for most buyers the refund does not exist. The official channel does not refund either, but it costs €29 instead of €34; the big platforms at least offer products with free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

What the reviews say

Little, and what there is does not encourage. At the time of checking there is no Trustpilot page for Florence.net. The site does display, in its own structured data, a score of 5.0 from 1,889 reviews, without linking it to any checkable source: a perfect score on nearly two thousand ratings that nobody can verify is worth nothing.

The readable pages belong to the connected parties: the service that fulfils the orders has 2.8/5 from 4 reviews, the sister domain uffizi.com 2.8/5 from 8. Tiny samples, so not statistics, but consistent ones — accusations of overcharging and of resembling the official channel. Travel forums have carried discussions for years about bookings made through domains that echo the museum’s name, and reviews of the Accademia carry warnings against using them.

Pros and cons

In favour

  • States openly that it is not the museum’s official site.
  • Multilingual content, carefully made and online for decades.
  • A date change available for a fee, which the official channel does not offer.
  • The party that fulfils the orders is an Italian agency with a verifiable VAT number.

Against

  • Advertised price €20, real price €34: a gap the visitor discovers only at checkout.
  • €5 above the official maximum for the same admission.
  • A refund of only 80%, and only with twenty days’ notice.
  • No phone, no email, no Italian legal identity on the portal.
  • A self-declared, unverifiable score of 5.0; no independent reviews of the domain.
  • Ownership in a Liechtenstein anstalt, with sister domains that echo museum names.

Verdict

Florence.net does not hide being a reseller, and that puts it a step above the portals that let you believe they are the ticket office. But a site that advertises €20 and takes €34 for the same ticket has a price transparency problem, not a positioning one. Add a partial refund with twenty days’ notice, the total absence of a direct support channel and a self-declared perfect score nobody can check, and the picture closes itself. Our score is 1.5 out of 5: the half point above the minimum goes to the explicit disclaimer and to the fact that a real agency sits behind the fulfilment.

The practical advice: for Uffizi tickets always start from the official channel; if the time slot has sold out, choose a platform that tells you before payment what it costs and what happens if you can no longer go. The full comparison is on our Florence tickets page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Florence.net the official Uffizi site?

No, and it says so itself: the page devoted to the gallery states that it is a tribute to the museum and has no direct connection with it. The official ticketing site is tickets.uffizi.it, run by CoopCulture, with a call centre on 800 615 615.

How much does an Uffizi ticket really cost on Florence.net?

At the time of checking the portal's price calculator returns €34.00: €29.00 of ticket plus presale right and €5.00 of online booking fee. The same page still advertises tickets from €20.00, a figure left in the page code and no longer current.

Who is behind Florence.net?

The privacy notice names Boxnic Anstalt as data controller, with an address in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, and an email address linked to the domain uffizi.com. The footer carries the GenialMedia brand. Orders, however, are fulfilled by a different party, New Globus Viaggi S.r.l., VAT IT04690350485, through the Florence Tickets service.

Can you cancel a ticket bought on Florence.net?

Only partly. The terms of the partner that fulfils the orders provide a refund of 80% of the voucher value, net of bank charges, and only if the request arrives by email at least twenty days before the entry date. No-shows get nothing. A date change is offered for a fee, around €4.50.

Does Florence.net have reliable reviews?

Not verifiable ones. At the time of checking there is no Trustpilot page for the domain; the site displays in its own code a score of 5.0 from 1,889 reviews without pointing to any checkable source. The company that fulfils the orders does have a Trustpilot page, with 2.8/5 from 4 reviews.

Are there cheaper alternatives?

Yes. The official channel tickets.uffizi.it sells the same admission at €29 with a date booked in advance and €25 for the same day. The international platforms start at €25 with an audio guide included and, unlike this portal, state their refund policy plainly before you pay.
