Palazzo Pitti and Boboli Gardens: tickets, prices, opening hours and what to see

Palazzo Pitti tickets and Boboli Gardens tickets are two things, not one. The palace costs €16 for the same day and €19 with an advance date, the garden €10 and €13, and the combined ticket that covers both €22 or €25: these are the prices in the official list of the Gallerie degli Uffizi, which run the whole complex. Online, with a city audio guide included, you start at €24 on Tiqets. The palace opens Tuesday to Sunday 8:15–18:30 with last admission at 17:30; Boboli opens every day at 8:15 but closes on the first and the last Monday of the month.

Tickets and prices: which of the three to buy

The choice is easy once you know how much time you have. With half a day take the combined ticket; with barely two hours take the palace alone; if you are travelling with children and want open air, the Boboli ticket on its own is plenty.

The gap between the two official price columns is the booking fee: €3 on the palace and on Boboli, €4 on the Uffizi. It is not a seasonal surcharge and it has nothing to do with how busy the place is. The reduced rate for EU citizens aged 18 to 25 is €2, under-18s go in free, and on the first Sunday of the month entry is free for everyone, with no way to book ahead. One note if you read the official site in English: the English version of the price list gives the reduced rate for Pitti and Boboli as €3, while the Italian version — and, for the Uffizi, both — gives €2, which is the amount set for state museums.

The “Palazzo Pitti only” ticket sold by the platforms is often listed as Palatine Gallery: it is the same entry to the palace, with an audio-guide app added. The advantage is not the price, which stays above the official one, but weekend slot availability and the chance to pay for several museums in one go, as we explain on the page about combined tickets.

What is inside the Pitti Palace museum in Florence

A single ticket opens five different routes, which is why the palace needs a plan before you walk in.

• Palatine Gallery: paintings hung frame to frame the way they were in the seventeenth century — Raphael, Titian, Rubens — and the run of rooms frescoed by Pietro da Cortona. This is the part that justifies the ticket.
• Royal Apartments: the rooms of the Lorraine and Savoy families, with original furnishings. Booking is compulsory, online or at the ticket desk but only on the day of entry.
• Gallery of Modern Art, on the second floor: Tuscan nineteenth century and the Macchiaioli, almost always empty.
• Museum of Fashion and Costume, with its new display of forty twentieth-century garments.
• Museum of Russian Icons and the Palatine Chapel, short and often skipped.

Two notices to know before you go in. The Treasury of the Grand Dukes has been closed since 3 February 2026 for extraordinary maintenance, until further notice: if you were coming for the hardstones and cameos, postpone. The Iliad Room in the Palatine Gallery is closed from 30 June to 25 October 2026, with an alternative route from the Sala della Stufa towards the Education of Jupiter, Ulysses, Prometheus, and Jupiter and Saturn. The Volterrano Quarter and, inside Boboli, the Porcelain Museum also remain closed. The Gallerie have announced no reopening date for either: both official notices stop at “until further notice”.

Palazzo Pitti opening hours and the Monday trap

Palace and garden do not share a calendar, and that is the mistake that wrecks the most visits.

In plain terms: on an ordinary mid-month Monday the garden is open and the palace is not, and that is the right morning for Boboli. On the first and the last Monday everything is shut and you are better off at Palazzo Vecchio, which works normally on Mondays.

Boboli has four ways in: the central doorway of Palazzo Pitti, Annalena on via Romana, Forte di Belvedere on via del Forte di San Giorgio, and Porta Romana. If you are coming down from Piazzale Michelangelo, enter at Belvedere and cross the garden downhill: you save the worst climb of the day. The Upper Botanical Garden opens 9:00–13:00 and 14:00–16:00 from November to February, until 17:00 in March and until 18:00 from April to October.

Inside the garden, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, roller skates, nordic walking poles, amplifiers and motorcycle helmets are banned; groups may reach 28 people with no whisper-system requirement. There are drinking fountains at the Madama Garden, the Knight’s Garden, the Grotto of Adam and Eve and the Prato delle Colonne, but the museum itself recommends bringing your own water. Some areas are fenced off for works in rotation: the Little Princes’ Garden, the Neptune basin, the amphitheatre tiers and part of the Upper Labyrinth.

The Boboli + Bardini combined ticket is sold at the counter only

The integrated ticket with the Bardini Garden costs €15 (€4 reduced), is not name-bound and is valid for the day you buy it. It is sold exclusively at the physical ticket desks: there is no online version, and no platform can sell it. It is not issued on closing days or on free-entry days. If your plan takes you down towards Ponte alle Grazie, it is the cheapest way to see two gardens and the view terrace everybody photographs.

The 5-day PassePartout: the sum that beats the passes

Anyone also visiting the Uffizi should not be buying three separate tickets.

The official PassePartout 5 Days costs €40 and gives one entry each to the Uffizi, Palazzo Pitti and Boboli over five consecutive days, with priority access. Booking is compulsory only for the Uffizi, which must be the first museum you visit: turn up 15 minutes early at Gate 3. If those five days contain a Monday closure, 25 December or 1 January, validity extends to a sixth day. With the Vasari Corridor added, the price rises to €58.

The comparison is brutal for the alternatives: Uffizi €29 plus the combined Pitti and Boboli €25 comes to €54 bought in advance, and the Firenze Card at €85 only makes sense from the fourth major museum onwards. There is also an annual PassePartout at €80 (Boboli only €25, Family €120) and the Amici degli Uffizi membership at €80, both with priority entry — but priority does not apply on free days.

How to book and where you go in

Visitor entry and the metal-detector checks are no longer at the central doorway but at the doorway to the right of the façade on Piazza Pitti, next to the ticket office; you leave through the central one. The Ammannati courtyard has been cleared of the security points.

The official channel is the Gallerie website, with a call centre on 800 615 615 (from abroad +39 055 0354135), open daily 8:00–19:00. The platforms cost a few euros more and are not the official ticket office: what you actually buy is certainty of a time slot in high season, an audio-guide app and support in your own language. If you want a human guide, the tours are on the city tours page; if you prefer the official video guide, you rent it on site for €8 (€13 for two), handed out until 16:00 and returned by 18:00.

The Vasari Corridor comes out right here

The route that starts at the Uffizi Gallery and crosses above Ponte Vecchio ends in the Buontalenti Grotto, inside Boboli, and continues to the Ammannati courtyard. It costs €43 for the same day or €47 in advance together with the Uffizi; holders of the PassePartout or the Firenze Card pay a €20 supplement.

The rules are strict: booking compulsory for everyone, name-bound non-refundable tickets, entry to the Gallery two hours before your slot, meeting point in room D19, a one-way route of about 45 minutes and no re-entry to the Uffizi. Anyone who left something in the cloakroom has to walk back round from outside.

Getting there and how long you need

From Ponte Vecchio keep straight along via de’ Guicciardini and within a few minutes the sloping square opens out in front of the façade: it is the simplest walk, and it passes the goldsmiths’ windows. From Santa Maria Novella allow about twenty minutes on foot, crossing at Ponte alla Carraia.

Realistic timings: two hours for the Palatine Gallery and the Royal Apartments, three if you add Modern Art and Fashion, an hour and a half for Boboli without rushing. Palace and garden together are a full half-day, and in summer it pays to reverse the order — garden early, air-conditioned rooms in the afternoon.
