Audiala is an audio guide and city guide app: you download it, pick Florence, listen to the points of interest even without a signal and follow your position on the map. The verdict in two sentences: behind it is a real Swiss company that openly declares both its affiliate model and its use of artificial intelligence in writing the texts, which is more than almost any competitor does; but store ratings are very few and mediocre, the legal documents contradict each other, and the same Florence page carries numbers that do not agree. It earns its place if you walk a lot and would rather listen than read.
We are not affiliated with Audiala and earn no commission from its links. We are partners of Tiqets and GetYourGuide, which we use on this page as a comparison alongside the museums’ official prices.

| Company | Audiala Solutions SA, identifier CHE-248.062.756, sole director Guillaume Pernelle. The terms and privacy notice, however, name “Audiala Solutions Ltd”, Estonian law and jurisdiction in Tallinn. That company does not exist: the Estonian business register holds no entity under that name, and the only registered company is the Swiss SA. The legal documents therefore point to a jurisdiction where, as far as can be checked, no such business exists |
| Address | Rue de Lausanne 33b, 1110 Morges, canton of Vaud (Switzerland) |
| Trading since | entered on the Swiss commercial register three years before our check; the app had launched six months earlier |
| What it offers in Florence | a city guide with around 37 hours of audio, offline maps, GPS positioning, 11 languages in the app and 12 on the site |
| Typical prices | freemium: a few free guides a month (the site says three in one place and five in another), Premium $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year, single-city unlock $4.99 |
| Cancellation | subscription handled by the Apple and Google stores, under their renewal and refund rules |
| Support | support@audiala.com, info@audiala.com, +41 76 724 19 15 |
| Scores | App Store: 2.6/5 in Italy from 5 ratings, 3.4 in the US and Germany, 4.0 in Switzerland, 3.86 in France, 3.0 in the UK. Google Play: more than ten thousand installs, no rating displayed. No Trustpilot page |
The business model: subscription plus ticket commission
Audiala earns from two sides. The subscription: once the month’s free guides are used up you move to Premium, at $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year, or unlock a single city for $4.99 — the sensible option for a three-day trip. And affiliation: on the city pages a carousel of tickets links out to booking platforms through tracked links, with an explicit commission disclosure. It is the same model we use.
One claim does not hold up, though: the app says the prices it offers are the same as on the official sites. In Florence they are not, because the official Uffizi ticket costs €25 for the same day and €29 with a date booked in advance, while the platforms run from €25 with an audio guide to €36 for reserved entry alone.

Content quality: openly AI-assisted
The company publishes its editorial process and calls it as it is: content is generated with the help of artificial intelligence, at scale, from free encyclopaedic sources, and the terms of use disclaim all responsibility for accuracy. That is rare transparency in a sector where almost nobody says how the texts come about.
The downside shows up the moment you open the Florence guide. Two different attraction counts sit on the same screen: one talks about more than three hundred points, the statistics box says twenty-two. The Uffizi page gives €25 for an adult, which is the same-day price, and never mentions the €29 advance-date price; the Vasari Corridor supplement does not match the official list, where the combined ticket costs €43 and €47. The guide also dates the reopening of the Uffizi’s historic entrance to a specific day: that is news the Galleries have never published, and we could not confirm it in any museum source. As storytelling the material is respectable; for prices and opening hours, check elsewhere.
Compared with the platforms’ audio guides and the museums’ own
This is the comparison that counts, because in Florence the alternatives cost very little.
| Option | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Official Uffizi audio guide | €6 at the bookshop, until 17:00 | the museum’s own handset, radio guide €1.50 |
| Official Accademia audio guide | €6 at the bookshop, ID required | same format, collected on site |
| Opera del Duomo official app | free | cathedral, dome, baptistery and museum, in Italian and English |
| Uffizi audio app on Tiqets | €5, 3.1 from 304 reviews | an app on your own phone, not the official one |
| Uffizi ticket with audio guide on Tiqets | €25, 4.3 from 10,619 reviews | reserved entry and audio app together |
| Audiala Premium | $4.99 a month or a city unlock at $4.99 | the city guide outdoors, offline, in 11 languages |
The reading is simple. Inside a big museum the official €6 audio guide is hard to beat, and at the Duomo the Opera’s is free: no general-purpose app offers the same room-by-room detail. Outdoors the relationship flips, because between one monument and the next the museum has nothing to offer you. Finally, watch a nuance the platforms print small: the audio guides sold with tickets are not the museums’ official ones, they are third-party products to use on your own phone, with headphones you bring yourself.

When a free app is enough (and when it is not)
Florence is small and dense: from the Duomo to Piazza della Signoria is seven minutes on foot, and from there to the Ponte Vecchio another three. For a walk around the historic centre, with the maps on your phone and a list of stops, a free app is almost always enough, especially following a ready-made route like the ones in things to do in Florence.
Paid listening earns its keep in three cases: if you travel in a language other than English or Italian, where free material thins out; if you prefer listening to reading while you walk; or if you are outside the centre — the climb to the Piazzale, San Miniato, Fiesole — where there is no sign every ten metres. It does not earn its keep as a substitute for a museum audio guide that costs €6, nor at the Duomo, where the Opera’s app is free. And if you want a human voice, a walking tour starts at a figure the annual subscription does not undercut by much.
What the reviews say
Not much, and scattered. On the App Store the Italian score is 2.6 out of 5 from five ratings; elsewhere it swings between 3.0 and 4.0, always on samples of one to seven. Fewer than thirty judgements in six markets in more than three years, and no rating displayed on Google Play because it sits below the minimum threshold.
The negative reviews are technical rather than editorial: the app freezing, the audio not starting. The positive ones speak well of the city guides. There is no Trustpilot page and no press coverage: this is the profile of a young product, not an established service.
Pros and cons
Pros
- An identifiable Swiss company, with an address, an identification number and a phone line.
- Declares its use of artificial intelligence in the content and its affiliate commission on tickets.
- Works offline, with GPS positioning, in twelve languages.
- A cheap option for a single city, for a few dollars.
Cons
- Inconsistent legal documents: a Swiss company in the registers, a different legal form and Estonian law in the terms.
- Numbers contradicting each other on the same Florence page, and imprecise museum prices.
- The “same price as the official sites” claim is not true for Florence.
- Fewer than thirty store ratings in total, with Italy at 2.6 stars.
- Recurring reports of the app freezing and audio not starting.
Verdict
Audiala is an honest, unripe product. Honest because it declares what almost nobody declares: who is behind it, how it earns and how the texts are made. Unripe because those texts, produced in bulk, carry errors that show up immediately in Florence — the Uffizi prices are the simplest proof — and because fewer than thirty ratings across six markets is not social proof. Our score is 2.5 out of 5: interesting on price and languages, not yet reliable on the practical detail.
Use it for what it does well: keeping you company as you walk between Santa Croce, the Signoria and the Arno. To go into the Accademia or the Uffizi, take the museum’s €6 audio guide or the ticket that includes one; for the Duomo, download the Opera’s free app.
Alternatives
- Tiqets: tickets with audio apps included, useful when they solve entry and listening in one go.
- florencepasses.com: another site that lives on affiliation, with different limits.
- Opera del Duomo: the complex’s official audio guide is free.
- The museum pages: the Uffizi and the Accademia and David, with their official audio services.
- For a guide in the flesh see Florence walking tours; the reviews are in operators and platforms.

Frequently asked questions
Is Audiala legit?
Behind the app is a real Swiss company, Audiala Solutions SA, based in Morges in the canton of Vaud with a single director. There is an inconsistency worth flagging, though: the terms of use and the privacy notice name a company with a different legal form under Estonian law, with jurisdiction in Tallinn. Store ratings are few and erratic, between 2.6 and 4.0 stars depending on the country.
How much does Audiala cost?
The model is freemium: a few guides a month are free — the site says three in one place and five in another — then you need Premium at $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year. Alternatively you can unlock a single city for $4.99. The app also earns a commission on tickets booked through its links, and it says so.
Are Audiala's audio guides written by humans?
Partly. The editorial process the company publishes states that content is generated with the help of artificial intelligence from free encyclopaedic sources, and the terms of use disclaim all responsibility for accuracy. On its Florence page we found two different attraction counts on the same screen.
Is it better than the museum's own audio guide?
It depends on the museum. At the Uffizi and the Accademia the official audio guide costs €6 at the bookshop, and for a single museum that is hard to beat. At the Duomo the Opera's official audio guide is free through the OperaGuide app, so any paid alternative starts at a disadvantage. A city app makes sense for the walking between sites, not for a single room.
Is a free app enough for visiting Florence?
For the historic centre, usually yes: the Duomo, the Signoria, the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio are five or ten minutes apart on foot and the essential information is everywhere. A paid audio guide earns its keep inside the big museums, where you need a considered route between the rooms, or when you would rather listen than read.
Does Audiala sell tickets?
Not directly. It shows a carousel of tickets linking out to booking platforms through tracked links, and states that it may receive a commission. It also claims the prices are the same as on the official sites: in Florence that is not always true, because the official Uffizi ticket costs €25 for the same day and €29 with a date booked in advance.
